Movies in the Park (Millennium Park Summer Film Series)

Bring your favorite low-rise lawn chair or blanket for an evening of FREE entertainment. Movies are presented on a giant screen in Millennium Park, and other parks throughout the city. Showtime is promptly at dusk (estimating 8:30 p.m.).

Fireworks

700 E. Grand Ave. (1.0 miles from the Hyatt Regency)

Each Wednesday (9:30 PM) and Saturdays evening (10:15 PM), Navy Pier puts on a firework show accompanied by music. You can view the fireworks from Navy Pier itself, or anywhere along the lake.

Chicago Cubs

1060 W. Addison St. (4.7 miles from the Hyatt Regency)

The Chicago Cubs play in historic Wrigley Field, just a short train or cab ride to the north of the Loop. The Cubs play the Texas Rangers July 15, 16 and 17 and play the New York Mets July 18, 19 and 20

Chicago White Sox

333 W. 35th St. (4.4 miles from the Hyatt Regency)

The White Sox play at U.S. Cellular Field (formerly Comiskey Park), just south of the Loop on 35th Street. The Sox are out of down during the conference, but if you are extending your stay in Chicago a few days, you can see the Sox play the Detroit Tigers July 21-24.

Millennium Park Concerts

Nearly every night of the week, you can find a free concert at Millenium Park’s Jay Pritzker Pavilion. The music covers all genres, ranging from upcoming DJs to the Grant Park Orchestra, from world music to rock and roll, or jazz to gospel. It all depends on the day. Be sure to check out their calendar to see who is playing during the AALL conference.

Grant Park Music Festival

205 East Randolph St. (0.3 miles from the Hyatt Regency)

The Grant Park Music Festival is the nation’s only free, outdoor classical music series of its kind. Each summer, the Festival presents ten weeks of free classical concerts to all of Chicago at the Jay Pritzker Pavilion in Millennium Park.

Chicago SummerDance

Spirit of Music Garden in Grant Park, 601 South Michigan Ave (1.9 miles from the Hyatt Regency)

Dance to the sounds of 44 different live bands and get into step with dance lessons beforehand. Glide across the restored 4,900-square-foot, 100 percent recycled, open-air dance floor designed by Chicago artist Dan Peterman. Swing, waltz, cha-cha…or simply enjoy the music. All FREE!
